Yesterday was history. President Barack Obama was elected the first black president of the United States of America. After a long campaign and night of waiting, the number of electoral votes to win was reached. Millions of people called their friends and family, in tears because it was so hard to believe that after this last long stretch he accomplished the biggest acievement that he could. This is what he had been waiting for and his dreams as well as thousands of voters and people across the united states were answered.
I read his speech that he made after winning the race and he awknowledged sen. John McCain for his hard fight. I found that that was really respectful, dispite differences, color, and political parties that both confronted eachother and were able to come together in the end to congratulate and thank eachother for fighting for our country.
Overall I believe that with President Obama being elected that it has shown many people that anything is really possible. Black people came from a place of slavery and now we have a black president . It just shows that if you want something bad enough then you can achieve it, you just have to put in the effort to make it possible. I believe in our country and most of all I believe in our president.
I was very glad that I had the opportunity to vote and be a part of history making. It was wuite a honor!!!
